Effective immediately, ITVP will produce a range of homopolymers (PGA), co-polymers (PGLA) and block copolymers (PGA-CL and PGA-TMC) exclusively for Evonik. These glycolide-based polymers are offered by Evonik as RESOMER G, RESOMER GL, RESOMER GC and RESOMER GT and fill the gap in the RESOMER portfolio for polymers with a short degradation time of less than two months. They are offered in colourless or violet form and are specifically tailored for the production of monofilaments and multifilaments as well as other processing options such as 3D printing, injection moulding, nonwoven technologies, etc., offering broad possibilities for the production of yarns, surgical sutures, meshes, tapes, films, membranes, scaffolds and vascular occlusions. In addition to pure polymer synthesis, ITVP and Evonik are also happy to offer collaborations in the area of further processing of the polymers in the development and scale-up of textile-based medical devices.
By leveraging ITVP and Evonik's expertise in polymer design and synthesis and application know-how, this collaboration will provide medical device companies with a superior choice of functional biomaterials to improve the quality and performance of their textile-based implantable medical devices.
